On Saturday, March 12, 2016, a Pool Checker Tournament will be held at the Dr.
James Carlson Library, 2801 32ND Avenue South, Fargo, ND. The time limit for the
tournament is from 10:00AM to 5:00PM. The library opens at 9:00AM so if you could be there before 10:00AM for registration it would be appreciated.
Pool Checkers is a game of skill in which pieces can jump backwards and after a king is crowned the king can fly the diagonals. Rules are simple, all jumps must be made, if there are two different ways to jump a person does not have to take the most pieces, and the tournament matches will consist of two games with each opponent.
This tournament will be held with no cost to those entering. The tournament will be open to anyone of any race, nationality, age, or gender and all will play in one class. There will be participation awards to the top three finishers in the tournament. Boards and pieces will be furnished, but if you have a checker board please bring it in case there are more players than anticipated. The rules of the American Pool Checker Association will govern play. An interesting site to look at for more about Pool Checkers would be the following AmericanPoolCheckers.US. Variations of this game are also played in most countries of Africa, Asia, and most of non-English speaking Europe. Neil H. Wenberg

Neil Wenberg's Sat, Mar 12, 2016 at 1:53 PM e-mail... JR, Thanks for the plug for our tournament. Gave out 60+ invitations, ran an article in the local paper, and the library where we were to play put up a flyer. Guess how many showed up? One. So will plan for the future! Hope to see you at ACF nationals in Branson! NEIL
